Welcome to Baytuna’s interactive children’s story time workshop!

Friday the 5th of August from 4 to 6 pm at the National Museum of Finland, inside the Baytuna Pop-up exhibition, Ateljee, 2nd floor. Free admission.

The workshop aims to advocate the Arabic language and literature to Arabic-speaking families and any family interested in learning! Our active listening session runs from 4.30 to 5.30 pm. Listeners, big and small, can ask questions and share their thoughts. The stories are best suited for children between the ages of 3 and 5. Older siblings are welcome and will be offered suitable activities by our staff. Parents are encouraged to pick up any of the available books if they feel their child is distracted. The workshop is designed to feel comfortable, free, and inviting. We look forward to seeing you there!

The workshop is given by Meri Helmi Särkkä. Meri is a multidisciplinary fine artist from Bahrain whose work has been shown in galleries and museums around the world. Mother of two, and passionate about children’s literature, she is keen to promote new literary trends from the Arabic-speaking world to families living in Finland.

When the workshop is over, or before it starts, you can climb up to the 3rd floor with the kids and visit the “Exploring the Ancient Near East” Exhibition.
